Election Endorsements

We hope that when you and your family vote, you will consider supporting these candidates. As in the past, these candidates have earned the endorsement of firefighters based on their position on local issues, civic duty, integrity, and their drive to work towards making a positive impact in their respective positions.

BASTIAN for Council in Port Orange

My name is Drew Basitan.  My wife Debbie works as a school teacher in the City of Port Orange.  We have been married for 18 years.  Debbie and I are the proud parents of two teenage daughters, Baylee and Beri.  My family and I are members of Christ the King Church in Port Orange.  I believe in giving back to the community and enjoy focusing on charities which give back locally.  I volunteer my time to many local charitable events such as PINK HEALS, MDA BOOT DRIVE, and TOYS FOR TOTS to name a few.

I retired from the City of Port Orange as a Driver Engineer/EMT.  I began my firefighting career in December 1985 and retired January 2012.  I have served on the Port Orange Fire and Rescue Pension as the Chair from 2009-2012.  I have also served as the Countryside West HOA President from 2005-2008.  I  was one of 50 firefighters in the nation selected to attend a Political Training Academy this year.  I have also been given the honor of sitting on a newly formed CIty of Port Orange selection committee to find the next City Manager.

As your future Councilman, I promise to focus my efforts on keeping Port Orange SAFE, BEAUTIFUL, and AFFORDABLE.  I believe that our community deserves a representative who will fight for spending your tax dollars wisely while maintaining safety in our community.  Please remember to vote for Drew BASTIAN for COUNCIL August 14th.
